Class Content And Requirements

GRADE ONE (Sacraments One) -- The first grade text offers a review of our Catholic faith including Sacraments, the Trinity, and the Mass, as the first step in preparing to receive Jesus in the Sacraments of Reconciliation and Communion.

GRADE TWO --  The focus of this year is preparation for both the Sacrament of Reconciliation as well as the Sacrament of Holy Eucharist.

SPECIAL COMMUNION CLASSES 1 & 2 (Sacraments Two) -- Reconciliation and Holy Eucharist. In the first textbook, the children learn of God*s infinite forgiveness through the Sacrament of Reconciliation. The greatest sacrifice ever made, Jesus* life for our sins, is the focus of the second Sacramental book.  Class 1 is for students in Elementary School.  Class 2 is for students older than Elementary School.

GRADE THREE -- The focus of grade three is the Church. The students learn the traditions of the Catholic Church and the beliefs held by its members.

GRADE FOUR -- In fourth grade, the focus shifts to a study of morality. Moral values and ideals are fostered throughout the textbook. The students view God as loving, merciful, and always ready to forgive.

GRADE FIVE -- Grade five centers on a study of the seven Sacraments. The persons of the Trinity are also presented in relation to the Sacraments.

GRADE SIX -- The Old Testament is the basis for the sixth grade year. Jesus is viewed as the one who brings a new covenant to the people and proclaims the coming of God*s kingdom.

GRADE SEVEN (Confirmation One) -- The seventh grade text offers an adolescent review of our faith. The Sacraments are reviewed in the first stage of preparation to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation.

GRADE EIGHT (Confirmation Two) -- The Holy Spirit is the theme for the eighth grade year. Students learn of the Holy Spirit*s strength, peace, and love in their lives as they prepare to receive the Holy Spirit in the Sacrament of Confirmation.
