Class Content And Requirements
GRADE ONE (Sacraments
One) -- The first grade text offers a review of our Catholic faith
including Sacraments, the Trinity, and the Mass, as the first step in
preparing to receive Jesus in the Sacraments of Reconciliation and
Communion.
GRADE TWO -- The
focus of this year is preparation for both the Sacrament of Reconciliation
as well as the Sacrament of Holy Eucharist.
SPECIAL COMMUNION CLASSES
1 & 2 (Sacraments Two) -- Reconciliation and Holy Eucharist. In the
first textbook, the children learn of God*s infinite forgiveness through
the Sacrament of Reconciliation. The greatest sacrifice ever made, Jesus*
life for our sins, is the focus of the second Sacramental book. Class 1
is for students in Elementary School. Class 2 is for students older than
Elementary School.
GRADE THREE -- The
focus of grade three is the Church. The students learn the traditions of
the Catholic Church and the beliefs held by its members.
GRADE FOUR -- In
fourth grade, the focus shifts to a study of morality. Moral values and
ideals are fostered throughout the textbook. The students view God as
loving, merciful, and always ready to forgive.
GRADE FIVE -- Grade
five centers on a study of the seven Sacraments. The persons of the
Trinity are also presented in relation to the Sacraments.
GRADE SIX -- The Old
Testament is the basis for the sixth grade year. Jesus is viewed as the
one who brings a new covenant to the people and proclaims the coming of
God*s kingdom.
GRADE SEVEN
(Confirmation One) -- The seventh grade text offers an adolescent review
of our faith. The Sacraments are reviewed in the first stage of
preparation to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation.
GRADE EIGHT
(Confirmation Two) -- The Holy Spirit is the theme for the eighth grade
year. Students learn of the Holy Spirit*s strength, peace, and love in
their lives as they prepare to receive the Holy Spirit in the Sacrament of
Confirmation.
